Roles and permissions

Decide what each teammate can see and do, with the built-in roles or your own.

1 min read

A role is a set of permissions. Every teammate has one role.

RoleWhat it can do
OwnerEverything, including billing and deleting the workspace. There’s one owner.
AdminManage the team, settings and conversations. Not billing, and not other roles.
AgentHandle chats and calls, and see only their own conversations.

Owner can’t be changed. You can create roles of your own for anything in between.

Before you start

Every planNeeds: Roles: Change permissions
  1. Go to SettingsTeammatesRoles & Permissions and click Add Role.

  2. Type a Role name and a Description.

  3. Under Permissions, tick what the role can do. Permissions are grouped by area; use Select all for a whole area, or search. Ticking an action also ticks its Read.

  4. Click Create role.

You should see the role in the list, with how many permissions it has.

You can only give permissions you have yourself.

On the role’s row, click Access Rights, change the ticks and click Save changes. Changes reach everyone with the role straight away.

To rename a role, click Edit. You can’t change your own role’s permissions.

Choose the Role when you invite them, or later on their Profile tab. See Invite teammates.

Click Delete on its row. A role still held by teammates or pending invitations can’t be deleted; move them to another role first.
