A new AI agent is Inactive: it answers no one. Choose where it works, then set it live.

Before you start

Every planNeeds: AI agents: Publish
  1. Go to AI Agents, open the AI agent and open the Deploy tab.

  2. Turn each channel on or off, such as Enabled on the web widget or Enabled on Email. Channels you haven’t connected yet are listed at the bottom.

  3. For the web messenger, write the Greeting message visitors see first, and add up to five Welcome suggestions: buttons visitors can tap, such as “Track my order”.

  4. Click Save changes.

For voice calls on your website or phone, see Take voice calls on your website.

Click Set live at the top of the page.

You should see

the AI agent marked Active. If you have no default AI agent yet, it also becomes the Default.

To stop it answering, click Deactivate. On the AI Agents list, the same buttons are called Activate and Deactivate.

Being live and switched on for a channel isn’t always enough. Each channel chooses which AI agent answers:

  • The Default AI agent answers on every channel it’s switched on for, unless a channel or workflow picks another.
  • Any other AI agent answers only where a channel’s Answered by setting or a workflow picks it.

To make an AI agent the default, go to the AI Agents list, click Set as default (the star) on its card, and confirm. See Choose which AI agent answers each channel.

Each reply from an AI agent uses wallet credit. If your wallet runs out, the AI agent tells the customer and hands the conversation to your team. See What uses credits.
