An email template is the email your campaign sends. Campaigns can only use published templates.

Before you start

Pro and Business plansNeeds: Email templates: Publish
  1. Go to Campaigns, open the Email Templates tab and click New template. Type a Name and click Create.

  2. Write the Subject and the Preview line, the text most inboxes show after the subject.

  3. Click Add block to build the email from a Heading, Text, Button, Image, Divider, Spacer, Two columns or Custom HTML.

  4. To add a contact’s details, such as their first name, click Insert a variable, choose one and type a Fallback: what people see when they don’t have that detail. Without a fallback, Hi {{contact.first_name}}, reads “Hi ,” for a contact with no first name.

  5. Click Send test to send the email to yourself.

  6. Click Publish and confirm.

You should see ”Template published — customers will now see the new version.”

Click Save draft to keep changes without publishing them. Campaigns already scheduled or sending keep the version they started with.

Under Settings in the editor:

  • Suggested sender: the address campaigns using this template start with.
  • Track opens and Track clicks: show who opened the email and clicked its links in the campaign report.

Choose a Layout for the frame around your email, and check the Plain-text version for inboxes that don’t show designed emails.

To see earlier published versions, click Versions.
