Send a WhatsApp campaign
Send an approved WhatsApp template to many contacts at once, now or at a time you choose.
A campaign sends one message to many contacts. Replies arrive in your inbox as normal conversations.
Before you start
- WhatsApp is connected. See Connect WhatsApp.
- An approved WhatsApp template. See Create WhatsApp templates and get them approved.
- Contacts who agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp.
Set it up
Section titled “Set it up”-
Go to Campaigns and click New campaign.
-
Under Channel, choose WhatsApp, then choose your template. If you have more than one number, choose the WhatsApp number it’s sent from; replies come back to that number.
-
Type a Campaign name that only your team sees, and click Continue to audience. Your campaign is saved as a draft.
Choose who gets it
Section titled “Choose who gets it”-
Choose one:
- All contacts: everyone with a WhatsApp number who hasn’t unsubscribed.
- Pick contacts: click Choose contacts, tick the people, and click Save selection.
- Upload CSV: a file with a phone column. New numbers are added to your contacts.
People who unsubscribed are always left out. The live count shows how many will receive it.
-
Click Continue to schedule.
Schedule and send
Section titled “Schedule and send”-
Choose Send now or Schedule for later, and enter the time if scheduling.
-
Under Personalize variables, fill in each blank of your template with text, a contact detail such as their first name, or both. Every contact detail needs a fallback, the words used when a contact doesn’t have it.
-
Check the Campaign summary: recipients, cost, and your wallet balance before and after.
-
Click Send campaign or Schedule campaign, tick the box to confirm your contacts agreed to receive messages, and confirm.
You should see ”Campaign launched.” and the campaign in the list.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”The campaign shows Running while it sends, then Sent. To follow it, see Read a campaign’s report.
To stop a scheduled or running campaign, open its row menu on the Campaigns list and choose Cancel campaign. Messages not sent yet are skipped.
Contacts who reply “stop” or “unsubscribe” won’t receive your campaigns again.
Each message uses wallet credit, taken as it’s sent. A message that fails to send is still charged. If your wallet runs out partway, the rest are skipped and not charged. Meta also charges your business directly for template messages.
